Masses of tiny star-like flowers emerge pink and gradually change to deep rose red and then coppery-rust in autumn as they age. Blooms are clustered in large flattened heads that attract butterflies and seed heads last well into winter. Gray-green succulent foliage grows in upright to slightly spreading clumps.
